Summer Programs
Summer Studies: Enrichment Math Courses
Math 6A, Math 6B, and Math 6C
Math 6 is for students who want to review number theory and the four basic operations involving whole numbers, decimals, fractions, and integers in a workshop atmosphere. Math 6A topics include working with data, decimals, and fractions. Math 6B topics include operations with fractions and ratios. Math 6C topics include percent and operations with integers.
Pre-Algebra A, Pre-Algebra B, and Pre-Algebra C
Pre-Algebra A will begin to bridge the concepts of basic math and Algebra 1 by reviewing data analysis and problem solving with integers, then introducing the language of algebra: variables, expressions, and equations. Pre-Algebra B continues topics begun in Pre-Algebra A, reviews ratio and percent, then begins a study of linear equations and inequalities. Pre-Algebra C continues topics begun in Pre-Algebra A and Pre-Algebra B, and begins a study of algebraic functions.
Algebra 1A, Algebra 1B, and Algebra 1C
Algebra 1A reviews algebraic connections and the properties of real numbers, then begins a study of solving and graphing linear equations. Algebra 1B continues the study of linear equations begun in Algebra 1A as students learn to write linear equations and solve and graph linear inequalities. Algebra 1C continues the study of algebraic concepts begun in Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B, then begins a study of quadratic equations and factoring polynomials.
Geometry A, Geometry B, and Geometry C
Topics studied in Geometry A are the definitions of points, lines, planes, and angles, an introduction to deductive reasoning, and a study of parallel lines and planes. Geometry B is a continuation of Geometry A, where students study congruence and quadrilaterals. Geometry C is a continuation of Geometry A and Geometry B, where students study polygons, right triangles, circles, and areas of planes.
Algebra 2A, Algebra 2B, and Algebra 2C
Algebra 2A students begin with a review of algebraic functions. Students then study systems of linear equations and inequalities. Algebra 2B is a continuation of Algebra 2A, with students studying quadratic and polynomial functions. Algebra 2C is a continuation of Algebra 2A and Algebra 2B, with students studying powers, roots, radicals, and exponential and logarithmic functions. The TI-82/83 calculator is used extensively in all three courses.
